Available in black and new dark brown Deluxe Beta Biothane with stainless steel fittings, the Bitless Noseband consists of the LightRider noseband with cheek piece attachment points, webbing chinstrap and connector strap with leading ring.
Simply attach it to the cheek pieces (fits most standard 5/8" to 1/2" cheek straps) instead of a bit, and you have a LightRider Bitless bridle at a more affordable price. The Light Rider Bitless Noseband allows you to go bitless in your own favourite bridle. Make use of those bridles you already have by converting them to bitless, giving you more options for style and fit.

The Bitless Noseband consists of the LightRider Noseband with cheek piece attachment slots, webbing chinstrap and connector strap with leading ring.
Simply attach it to the cheek pieces of your own bridle instead of a bit (fits up to 1" cheek straps), and you have a Bitless bridle at an affordable price.

Unique Chinstrap: The purpose of the soft webbing chin strap is to help the noseband stay in place when pressure is applied to the reins - this keeps the noseband from twisting to give clear and direct communication. When rein pressure is applied the chinstrap becomes snug but does not over-tighten due to the type of webbing used, so 90% of the pressure is on top of the nose.
The bridle can also be used like a straight sidepull by clipping the chinstrap and noseband rings together (recommended if your horse hasn't experienced a chinstrap before).

Materials: Comes in Regular or Deluxe Beta Biothane, and Regular leather with stainless steel or brass fittings. More info on the difference between Deluxe and Regular Beta biothane here.

Check this measurement chart to ensure the right choice for your horse.

I recommend you use scissor rein clips for easy change over to the leading ring which enables groundwork/leading/lunging, or buy LightRider reins with clips included to have the correctly weighted reins designed for this bridle.

  1. No more being a Tosser!

Posted by Fiona Goldsworthy on 11th Jun 2013

Previously used a cross-over poll pressure Bitless Bridle, but changed to this Noseband and my horse immediately responded by showing minimal head tossing and pulling against the poll. Marvellous Improvement! Also found this style of Bitless has softer direct and indirect reining for better communication, which is great. Thank You So Much Cynthia for creating an alternative that can be adapted to existing bridles.

  2. Love the LightRider Bitless Bridle

Posted by Susan Smith on 4th Jun 2013

I wanted to go bitless with my quarter horse and tried the Dr. Cook but I don't really like the poll pressure concept, so when I saw the LightRider with the chin strap pressure, I was intrigued. Then when I found that I could order the noseband to use with my existing headstall, I ordered without hesitation!!! I have ridden several times and love it. So does my horse. Have had no control issues at all and I can just tell he loves the free feeling.

  3. I love it. My horse loves it!

Posted by Unknown on 23rd May 2013

I have never used a nose-band of any type before on my horse in the last 8 years. My horse never very happy about having his bridle put on. He waits quietly. I was a bit worried about being able to stop him, but I found I have just as much control in the bitless as with a bit, and I have extra confidence because I know no matter what happens I cannot hurt his mouth. He also used to always shake his head when asked to trot or canter. Without a bit in his mouth this habit ceased almost immediately. Cynthia, thank you so much for changing our lives! Fran.

  4. happy horse

Posted by Paul on 10th May 2013

We are using the light rider on a 5 year old off the track TB with good results. I think he goes even better in this than with a bit. It makes it easier to let the horse eat while out on a ride, is easier for my beginner rider son to put on, and the horse seems to like it more.

  5. AWESOME

Posted by Dawn and Cash on 3rd Mar 2013

I bought this nose band to convert my Parelli bridle to bitless. I have been riding in a natural hackamore for years so I was confident that he would transition well. Well that's the UNDERSTATEMENT of the century. He loves this bridle now. He was super responsive and light. No opposition AT ALL. He was lovely and relaxed on a loose rein but would also collect up and move into a lovely frame without any objection what-so-ever. A happy horse means an even happier me!! Thanks you Cynthia.

  6. Amazing

Posted by Sherri on 19th Feb 2013

I bought this for my horse who HATES the bit, every time I put the bridle on it was a battle to open her mouth, then once on, she spent most of her time chewing the bit or tossing her head. It definately didn't make for a good ride. The first day I put the nose band on, was amazing, she was relaxed but responsive. Took no time at all for her to get used of it. I have been converted, no more bits for my horses.

  7. Understanding

Posted by Taaryn, Exmouth on 7th Feb 2013

My daughters horse was never happy with a bit in her mouth. All I wanted was a noseband I could attach to her bridle. So I did a bit of research and I was stoked to find Cynthia's bitless nose band. We havent looked back. The quality is amazing, The horses love it and it has improved my daughters riding. People always comment on it and usually end up buying one themselves. We would highly recommend Cynthias products to anyone wanting to go bitless.

  8. great option for a bitless bridle

Posted by Gina USA on 31st Dec 2012

I choose this bitless noseband because i wanted to keep using my headstall. The quality is outstanding and it was very easy to follow the directions on how to put it on my headstall. Cynthia went above and beyond answering my questions on adjusting the noseband. My horse took to the noseband with calmness and was very relaxed, he actually had a smile on his face while riding. He is used to riding in a bitless but this noseband is the one I choose to use for its quality and comfort to my horse. Cynthia's customer service is outstanding.

  9. Still Brillant

Posted by Unknown on 15th Dec 2012

I got another Lightrider Bitless Noseband for my other two horses who need a different size then my first one. It works great with them also. I can use a very light touch of the reins or firm up if needed. I look forward to many hours of riding.

  10. Brillant!

Posted by Unknown on 1st Nov 2012

This was exactly what I wanted for my horse. He cannot wear a bit because the various people who had him before me never had his wolf teeth out and now it would be a surgical procedure (which I am not going to do.). He is a hot & reactive horse and this product gives me exactly the right firmness to match him. It also gives softness the rest of the time. The various halter set-ups would slide around his face too much but the cavesson keeps this right in place.
I also received excellent customer service when there was a problem with the first chin strap sent to me.
It looks good on him also.

  11. Better than a bit!

Posted by Rosie on 14th Sep 2012

I bought the bitless nose band for my horse a few weeks ago after much research into different types of bits, trying to find one that my horse would be happy with.
I bought her a bit which she seemed to accept quite readily but I still didnt feel 100% comfortable using bits on her.
I thought I would try a bit less nose band to see how it compared with a bit. And after a few rides in it, I can say that she seems quite happy with it and responds well.I feel so much more comfortable riding her knowing that there is nothing in her mouth that could cause discomfort.

  12. So far so good....

Posted by Unknown on 29th Aug 2012

Have ridden each of our horses in the bitless noseband and particularly one of them responded really well. (the other there wasn't much difference, accepted it happily) We have previously only ridden in halters and were after a little clearer contact.
So after just a couple of rides, so far the response is great!

  13. Great

Posted by Unknown on 13th Jun 2012

My arabian mare is the most responsive and well-behaved that she has ever been with the noseband, as opposed to a bit. I will never put a bit in her mouth again. She is happier (no chewing/fighting) and so am I. I also think that the noseband is aesthetically pleasing and very practical, being able to attach to my bridle rather than having to buy a new one.

  14. Faith in a bitless noseband.

Posted by Unknown on 8th Jun 2012

I traded one tall Quarter horse for a smaller one who was being ridden in a bosal with mecate reins. I decided to try this bitless noseband of which I had confidence in after reading its attributes. By the time the weather was decent I slipped and fell on my right shoulder breaking it. I have yet to use this noseband, I believe in it thus my review.

  15. Bitless Noseband changed my horse's attitude

Posted by Dorothe Doyle on 5th Aug 2011

I acquired Cooper, my 13 year old QH through a rescue and didn't know what kind of riding he was trained at. We tried western and english, but no matter what kind of bit I used, he would bob his head or shake it from side to side, constantly fighting the bit. Somebody suggested a bitless bridle and I started to look into it. I came across your company and the noseband made great sense to me, as I didn't want to buy another bridle and that way I could keep the one I already had.
From the moment I put the new bitless noseband on, he was a different horse. He is easy to maneuver now, even jumps over hurdles. No more head shaking and refusing to move forward.
The quality of the leather is excellent, I will purchase a new bridle for my other horse also.
